Pure Scan is built to work without collecting personal data. This policy explains exactly what happens with any data the app does process, in plain language.
When you scan a food label, the photo is sent securely to Google's Gemini API for analysis so we can identify ingredients and generate your health score. This photo is processed to return a result to you and is not stored on our servers — we do not operate a backend database of your scans.
Your history of past scans is stored locally on your device only. It is never uploaded, backed up to a server we control, or shared with any other party. Deleting the app or clearing your history removes it completely and permanently.
The only third party involved in processing your data is Google, via the Gemini API, solely to analyze the ingredient photo you choose to scan. This transfer may involve data leaving your country, including to the United States. Google processes this data under its own privacy terms, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
| Data type | Purpose | Stored by us? | Shared with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Label photo | Ingredient analysis | No | Google Gemini API |
| Scan results | Show you your history | Local device only | No one |
| Camera permission | To take the scan photo | N/A | No one |
If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR regarding any personal data processed about you, including the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and the right to object to or restrict processing. Because Pure Scan does not maintain accounts or a server-side database of your personal data, most of these rights are already exercised automatically — deleting the app deletes your data. For any other request or question, contact us using the email below.
We do not retain your ingredient photos after analysis is complete. Your scan history persists only as long as it remains on your device and under your control.
Pure Scan is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. Since the app requires no account and stores no data on our servers, no age-specific personal data is collected in the first place.
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
